Seokhwa signed with OUI Entertainment because his fellow WEi member Yohan convinced him. Yohan mentioned that OUI feels like a family with a comfortable atmosphere, which is why Seokhwa decided to sign with them.

Seokhwa was living with his grandparents in Gongju for a while and that is where he started liking and singing trot.

Seokhwa is a fan of APINK and owns several of their albums. His favourite member is Eunji. He has attended APINK's concert in the past and their latest 2023 Fan Concert [Pink drive].

Seokhwa is really into makeup and he is often doing his and other members' makeup. He likes trying new products and giving recommendations and reviews of skincare products and watching makeup videos to learn more. He made beauty vlogs on WEi's official channel.

Seokhwa and actor Son Byeonghun used to be roommates. They decided to raise a dog together and in 2019 they got a Pomeranian puppy and named it Cookie. Seokhwa was the one who gave Cookie his name. Other suggestions he had were 먼지 (Meonji), 다미 (Dami) and many more cute names, but Byunghun is not a fan of cute names, and he wanted an English name for the puppy, so they went with the name Cookie. Currently, Cookie is mostly staying with WEi in their dorms.

Seokhwa is a big fan of girl groups and a master of girl group dance covers. He is also very good at recognising all K-POP songs (in just 1s).

Seokhwa was told a lot he looks like VIXX Cha Hakyeon (N), especially during the camera checks on auditions. When he was trainee, people also said he look like younger Minho (Lee Know) of Stray Kids.

Seokhwa is a social butterfly and has many idol friends. Some of them are AB6IX Daehwi, ATEEZ Wooyoung, The Boyz Changmin, DKZ Jaechan, ONEUS Keonhee and Cravity Serim.
As he was trainee in several companies, he is also friends with Stray Kids and Treasure members.

Seokhwa started learning about music writing and composing from Daehyeon and producing team StupidSquad he works with. Seokhwa participated in writing lyrics for few of the WEi songs and is also helping them singing guides for the songs.

Seokhwa likes when people recognize his cute and powerful duality. However, Yongha says that despite being cute, Seokhwa is actually quite stubborn too.

When WEi were asked to determine the ranking within the group, they placed Seokhwa as number 1 and Cookie as number 2. They mentioned that even Donghan is scared of Seokhwa sometimes. Additionally, they stated that Seokhwa nags them a lot, like a mother.

PRE-DEBUT

Seokhwa was a trainee at JYP Entertainment (JYP엔터테인먼트), Yuehua Entertainment (위에화엔터테인먼트), YG Entertainment (YG엔터테인먼트), and SM Entertainment (SM엔터테인먼트).During his trainee period in YGE he participated in survival show YG Treasure Box.He appeared on survival show Produce X 101 as an independent trainee.After PDX, he briefly joined SM Entertainment before moving to OUI Entertainment and then debuted with WEi on October 5, 2020.

On August 20, 2019, OUI Entertainment announced via social media that Kang Seokhwa had joined their company.

FANMEETING [A PERFECT DAY]



New OUI Ent. trainees Kang Seokhwa, Hidaka Mahiro and Wang Jyunhao held joint fan meeting on November 2, 2019.

On July 10, 2020, OUI Entertainment announced their first boy group WEi, which included trainees Jang Daehyeon, Kim Donghan, Kim Yohan, and Kang Seokhwa. After finishing their promotions as 1the9 members, Yoo Yongha and Kim Junseo joined the team in August 2020.

Before their debut, WEi greeted fans with a variety of content, including dance and vocal covers, as well as their first reality show OUI GO UP.

YG Treasure Box (YG 보석함) was a survival show made by YGE and broadcasted by JTBC2 that was aired from November 16, 2018 to January 18, 2019.



Seokhwa was part of the group B (Visuals) along Park Jihoon (박지훈), Wang Gunhao (왕군호), Ha Yoonbin (하윤빈), Jang Yunseo (장윤서), Yoon Jaehyuk (윤재혁), Kim Sungyeon (김성연) and Gil Dohwan (길도환).


STAGE VIDEOS

After the final elimination in YG Treasure Box, Seokhwa parted ways with YG Entertainment and joined Produce X 101 as an independent trainee.
